Sheffield United are monitoring the son of a former Blades player, but could be rivalled by Newcastle United and Brighton & Hove Albion should they decide to pursue a deal, according to The Mirror.
Sheffield United, Newcastle and Brighton are all said to be ‘watching developments’, with Jack Cork’s Burnley future ‘in the balance’.
Cork – whose father Alan played for the Blades in the early 1990s, alongside the current Bramall Lane boss Chris Wilder, before returning to the club as assistant manager – is out of contract at Burnley next summer.
And it is claimed that his situation ‘has yet to be addressed’, alerting several clubs to the versatile midfielder for whom Burnley paid £10 million in 2017.
But while a move to Sheffield United – who are resigned to losing another player in his position, John Lundstram – may hold obvious appeal, joining Newcastle or Brighton would allow Cork to reunite with his former midfield colleagues, Jeff Hendrick or Adam Lallana.
Cork will be available for nothing at the end of this season if his future is not resolved by then, and it is possible that Burnley could be tempted into a cut-price January sale – avoiding a repeat of Hendrick’s Newcastle transfer.
