Sheffield United are hoping to beat Brighton and Hove Albion to Oliver McBurnie.

According to the Sheffield Star, Sheffield United are hoping that a return to Yorkshire can help them beat Brighton and Hove Albion to the signing of Swansea City ace Oliver McBurnie.
McBurnie, 22, found first-team football hard to come by at Swansea in the Premier League, but having starred on loan at Barnsley, he became their leading frontman under Graham Potter.
The Scotland international responded by hitting 22 goals in 42 Championship games this season, becoming one of the most feared strikers in the Football League.
However, Swansea boss Potter has now left for Brighton and Hove Albion, meaning the Seagulls are keen on McBurnie – but the Sheffield Star report that newly-promoted Sheffield United are still hoping to win the race despite Potter’s move.
With loanees Scott Hogan and Gary Madine gone, the Blades need at least one more striker, and have identified McBurnie as the young blood in attack to support Billy Sharp and David McGoldrick.

The report notes that Sheffield United are hoping that a return to Yorkshire will tempt Leeds-born McBurnie into snubbing Brighton in favour of Chris Wilder’s side.
A hard-working centre forward with aerial ability and a good touch, McBurnie has waited patiently for a Premier League chance in recent years, but is now faced with two Premier League clubs pursuing his signature as he considers life away from Swansea.
