What a season Sheffield United have had in the Premier League. The Blades were many people’s favourites to get relegated this term but Chris Wilder’s side almost grabbed themselves a place in Europe.

Sheffield United finished ninth in the league which is still a fantastic achievement. Wilder now needs to strengthen his squad to have a real go at a top-seven finish next season, and the first position he needs to reinforce is goalkeeper.

Dean Henderson has been one of the Blades’ best players over the last two years. The Englishman’s performances have impressed many, with some even calling for a spot in the national team for next summer’s Euros.

Henderson will reportedly head back to Manchester United this summer to fight for a starting spot alongside David de Gea. That means Sheffield United will have to bring in a goalkeeper and The Sun claim that they have a target in mind.

Chris Wilder will reportedly make a move to sign Bournemouth’s Aaron Ramsdale this summer. The Englishman has enjoyed a brilliant season for the Cherries and now that they are relegated, he is likely to be up for sale.

Ramsdale and Wilder know each other very well. The Sheffield United boss sold the Englishman to Bournemouth for about £1 million three years ago.

The 22-year-old has improved massively since and he could well make a return to Bramall Lane this summer to become Sheffield United’s new number one.

Ramsdale can become just as good as Henderson

The report claims that Ramsdale will cost about £15 million this summer. That isn’t at all a huge fee for a player of his quality, age and potential.

Bournemouth’s need for cash might help the Blades lower the price down but even if the Cherries stick to £15 million, it will be a very good deal for Sheffield United this summer.

In an ideal world, Wilder would love to keep hold of Henderson for yet another season. However, him leaving was always imminent and Ramsdale, if given some time, could become just as good as his compatriot in the coming years.
