Oli McBurnie’s 24 goals for Swansea City in the Championship could earn him a move to the Premier League with Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United.

Sheffield United are confident that they can convince Oli McBurnie to leave Swansea City to seal a big-money move to Bramall Lane, according to The Star.

The Scotland international is just one of a wide range of strikers who has been linked with the Premier League newcomers in recent weeks, alongside Neal Maupay, Jay Rodriguez and Real Betis ace Loren Moron.

But The Star believes that McBurnie is Chris Wilder’s top target with the Blades manager handing a list of potential transfers to the club’s owners in recent weeks.

The Leeds-born striker has risen through the ranks to become an undisputed star player at Swansea, scoring 24 goals in 44 games last season.

And Wilder reportedly believes McBurnie has the talent to make the step up to Premier League level. Sheffield United, meanwhile, are confident that the chance to play top-flight football in the Steel City should prove too good to turn down.

The Sun (19 May, page 63) believes that McBurnie is valued at £12 million, a fee which would require Sheffield United to shatter their transfer record. Brighton are also keen.

And it remains to be seen whether McBurnie would prefer a move to Brighton, who recently appointed former Swansea boss Graham Potter to replace Chris Hughton.
