Sheffield United are set to hand Norwich City star Todd Cantwell a £40,000-a-week deal at Bramall Lane and feel they can get the move done for a bargain £10 million, according to the Star.
Not so long ago, this classy midfielder with a penchant for stepping up on the big occasion was being linked with moves to some of the Premier League’s biggest and best.
But perhaps Sheffield United, rather than a Liverpool or a Tottenham, would be the perfect environment for Cantwell to take his game to a whole new level – all the while receiving the regular first-team football he needs to progress.
According to the Star, Chris Wilder has sent scouts to watch the Norwich academy graduate on multiple occasions recently.
And, with the Canaries on the verge of relegation following the 2-1 loss to Watford on Tuesday, Sheffield United are increasingly confident that a £10 million, £40,000-a-week agreement can be struck.
A slaloming, scheming number ten in the Jack Grealish mould, it is not immediately easy to figure out where Cantwell would fit into Wilder’s starting XI however.

It remains to be seen whether he has the defensive discipline to start in Sheffield United’s midfield three, though perhaps he could slot in behind Ollie McBurnie in a withdrawn ‘David McGoldrick role’.
Cantwell has scored seven goals this season, including efforts against Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal and a scorcher in the FA Cup against Manchester United.
