Nottingham Forest reportedly want double what Sheffield United have offered for Ben Osborn.
According to a report from The Sun, Sheffield United have made a £3 million bid for Nottingham Forest midfielder Ben Osborn as Chris Wilder looks to bolster his squad ahead of the Blades’ Premier League return.
Sheffield United have made a promising start to the summer window, with the club confirming on their official website that they have broken their transfer record to sign Luke Freeman, while Phil Jagielka has made an emotional return to Bramall Lane after 12 years with Everton.
But with the new top flight season just over a month away, Wilder’s men look to be stepping up their intent in the market. The Sun reports that they have offered £3 million for Osborn, who has just entered the final year of his contract at the City Ground.
The report adds that Forest want around double what the Blades have offered for the 24-year-old, who has made over 200 league appearances for the Championship side during his career.
Osborn’s ability appears to be an issue that really divides the Forest supporters. There are plenty who believe that he has a lot of potential and is the kind of player that the club should be holding onto unless a fantastic bid comes in.
However, there are also those who believe that Osborn is overrated by other sections of the fanbase and do not think that the club would lose much by letting him leave. But given his versatility, he would arguably be an extremely tough player to replace during the final weeks of the summer window if Sheffield United are able to get something done.
