Sheffield United appear to have beaten West Brom and Newcastle to the signing of Antonee Robinson, with the Northern Echo reporting that a £2 million fee has been agreed.
Back in January, Latics fans everywhere were breathing a sigh of relief when they discovered that a highly-rated USA international had seen a shock move to AC Milan fall through at the eleventh hour.
But, just seven months later, Robinson is on the verge of the exit once again.
And, just to season the wounds with a hefty dose of salt, the ex-Everton youngster is set to depart for just £2 million – £8 million less than the fee Milan were willing to pay back in the winter.
Wigan’s world was turned upside down in early July when, out of nowhere, one of the most in-form teams in the Championship were plunged into administration.
Paul Cook’s side won seven of their last ten games with Robinson a buccaneering presence down the left-hand side.
But, thanks to a 12-point deduction which rendered their superb form worthless, Wigan will be playing League One football in 2020/21.

A financial crisis means they have no choice but to sell their prized asset on the cheap too, with Sheffield United agreeing a bargain £2 million deal.
Newcastle held talks after identifying the 23-year-old as the man to solve a problem position, while West Brom also made an offer in recent times.
But with Sheffield United confident of getting the deal done, Robinson will be hoping to become the latest lower league ace to be transformed into a Premier League star by Chris Wilder.
