Wolverhampton Wanderers have signed four players this summer, three of whom can play at centre-back.

A report in the Express and Star has suggested that the reason that Wolves have so many centre-backs on their books currently is that Nuno Espirito Santo is considering adopting a system next season that involves three players being deployed at the heart of the defence.

Wolves have so far signed four players this summer, all of whom are defenders. Both Ryan Bennett and Roderick Miranda are primarily centre-backs, while Phil Ofosu-Ayeh can also play in the middle.

That may have led some Wolves supporters to question what could happen to the likes of Danny Batth, Kortney Hause and Dominic Iorfa with so many options at the club, but the Express and Star suggests that Nuno is not necessarily looking to replace any of the existing centre-backs within the squad.

Of course, he could perhaps still sanction some player sales, but the Express and Star reports that he is considering playing three centre-backs in his preferred system next term.

If that proves to be the case, Wolves fans will be pleased at how quickly the club have got on with their business in the transfer market as all of the options will have plenty of time to learn the new system if that proves to be the avenue that Nuno goes down.
