Sheffield United are reportedly looking to strike a number of loan deals this summer.
According to the Sheffield Star, Sheffield United have held talks with a host of Premier League clubs over striking loan deals for players this summer.
The Blades had a fine return to the Championship, but ultimately fell short of the play-off places in their first season back in the second tier of English football.
With manager Chris Wilder now secured to a new three-year deal, United can begin their plans for next season and beyond, and talks have allegedly been held with a number of Premier League clubs.
The Sheffield Star report that United want to bring in players on loan from major Premier League clubs, including Chelsea having taken goalkeeper Jamal Blackman on loan for the duration of the last campaign.
It’s claimed that whilst manager Wilder is having his transfer budget increased this summer, he still feels that Premier League loans will give United a shot at signing players they otherwise wouldn’t have a chance of landing.
Wilder allegedly has strong links to both Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur, and the Blades may well call on those links to land loan signings this summer.
Wilder is also believed to be in the market for a central defender and two new strikers, despite the fact that Leon Clarke and Billy Sharp combined for 32 Championship goals last season.
With a play-off push no doubt the target for United next season, a couple of top loan signings may just help the Blades into the top six, as seen with Fulham and Aleksandar Mitrovic this past season.
