According to a report in the Northern Echo, Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez is not planning to make any additions before he finds out where the future of his key players lie.
Benitez has been told that he does not have to sell any of his prized assets this summer, but he does not want to keep any players at Newcastle who do not want to be there.
As a result, Benitez intends to speak to every member of his Newcastle squad to find out their opinion on playing in the Championship.
It is unknown whether the likes of Georginio Wijnaldum, Moussa Sissoko and Andros Townsend will be happy without top tier football.
The Magpies have money to spend this summer, but Benitez is keen not to rush into making additions. The Spanish boss has, however, already drawn up a list of targets.
Fulham’s striker Ross McCormack is believed to be one of the players Benitez most wants to bring to Newcastle, but the Scotland international is keen to look elsewhere.
McCormack reportedly wants a Premier League switch, meaning that a potential move to Newcastle could be in doubt.
