A report from the London Evening Standard has suggested that Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks is very much on England boss Gareth Southgate’s radar after the 21-year-old missed out on the Three Lions squad for their upcoming games with Germany and Lithuania.
The Spurs academy graduate has enjoyed a promising year at White Hart Lane, making his Premier League debut at the start of the campaign, and subsequently making a couple of starts for Mauricio Pochettino’s men.
His encouraging performances meant that some were extremely disappointed to see him miss out on Southgate’s squad – with Winks instead included in the under-21 side – especially as the new England boss showed little fear when it came to calling up uncapped players for the two games.
However, the Evening Standard suggests that Southgate has been extremely impressed by Winks’ form, and thus, it may not be that great a surprise to see him in a senior squad not too far down the line.

Winks has only started two top flight games for Spurs this term – making 18 substitute appearances in the league – but has been a regular fixture in the sides that have competed in the Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup, proving just how much faith Pochettino has in him.
And it appears that despite overlooking him on this occasion, Southgate will not need too much convincing to show the same faith in him in the near future.
