The Sampdoria defender is a reported transfer target for Tottenham Hotspur.

According to a report from the Daily Star, Tottenham have been offered the chance to sign Sampdoria centre-back Joachim Andersen for just £31.2 million this summer, but Football.London claims that the north London outfit are concerned about his lack of experience at the very highest level.

Spurs are expected to be very busy during this summer’s transfer window, with the Daily Mail claiming that Mauricio Pochetitno is keen to sign Real Betis schemer Giovani Lo Celso and Lyon ace Tanguy Ndombele.

Strengthening their defence doest seem to be a priority for Tottenham at the moment, but that could all change if Toby Alderweireld leaves north London this summer.

The Belgian has a £25 million release clause inserted into his current contract, according to Football.London, and if that is activated up to two weeks before the end of the transfer window, Spurs will have no option but to sell.

And the Daily Star claims that £31.2 million-rated Sampdoria defender Andersen could be in line to replace the 30-year-old at Tottenham.

Football.London suggests that Spurs have reservations about the Dane, however, with Mauricio Pochettino thought to be reluctant to bring in a 23-year-old as Alderweireld’s replacement, leaving Jan Vertonghen as the only experienced head in defence.

The stats do back up that assertion too.

The 6ft 4in centre-back has made just 42 senior appearances for Sampdoria, having made just 50 for FC Twente.

Andersen does seem to be a top class defender, however, and £31.2m in today’s market really is somewhat of a drop in the ocean.

Whether Tottenham do decide to push on and make a concrete move for the 23-year-old, however, remains to be seen.
