Tottenham Hotspur target Julian Nagelsmann was left uneasy about the Chelsea job process after interest in Mauricio Pochettino.

That is according to a report from the Daily Mail, who claim that Nagelsmann pulled out of the running for the Chelsea job.

It’s stated that Nagelsmann was under the impression that the job was pretty much his after Graham Potter’s exit.

The German seemingly didn’t anticipate that Chelsea would go and target other managers for the job.

Once rumours about a move for Mauricio Pochettino or Vincent Kompany emerged, Nagelsmann and his camp became uneasy.

Doubts began to grow over Chelsea’s process and Nagelsmann decided to withdraw from the race on Friday.

It’s not often you hear tales like this but it seems that Nagelsmann got spooked that Chelsea were looking at alternative candidates.

Chelsea are now pressing ahead with a deal for Pochettino, with the Argentinian expected to become Blues boss this week.

Tottenham chances of landing Julian Nagelsmann remain in the balance

Nagelsmann backing away from the Chelsea job has only served to raise Tottenham’s hopes of a potential deal.

Spurs have been interested in appointing Nagelsmann as Antonio Conte’s replacement ever since his Bayern Munich exit.

Tottenham have also looked towards Nagelsmann in years gone by and Daniel Levy appears to be a big fan.

Chelsea won’t be Nagelsmann’s next club but a move to Tottenham doesn’t exactly seem nailed on.

Tottenham are a complete mess right now and luring a coach of Nagelsmann’s standing won’t be easy.

Star man Harry Kane could seek a transfer, Fabio Paratici has gone and Tottenham look like a bunch of strangers on the pitch.

Tottenham will have to make some big promises – and commit to some big spending – in order to tempt Nagelsmann to North London.
