Leeds United are reportedly keen on Daniel James, but are waiting on a decision.

According to a report from The Sun on Sunday (20/1; page 63), Leeds may have to hope that Swansea do not manage to shift Wilfried Bony and Luciano Narsingh off their books as they look to sign Daniel James.

The Championship leaders are eyeing up a move for the Swansea winger, who has provided three assists in the league this term. But understandably, Graham Potter’s side are reluctant to lose the youngster.

The Sun on Sunday (20/1; page 63) reports that Swansea could look to cut their wage-bill this month, but James is one of the players that they would rather not sell immediately.

Instead, the report suggests that the Swans will look to move Bony – who is on £90,000-a-week, according to Spotrac – and Narsingh on before they give Leeds an answer on whether Marcelo Bielsa’s men can land James during this window.

It is not ideal for Leeds to be in limbo over potentially signing the 21-year-old. If he is their top target, then Bielsa may be encouraging the club to delay the decision on whether to focus their attention elsewhere until they find out whether or not Swansea will sell.

But if the Swans fail to sell Bony and Narsingh, that may leave Leeds in a stronger position as they may have an opportunity to do a much better deal if they get the impression that Swansea will, reluctantly, have to be open to offers for their winger.
