Football London have reported that Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg was fuming with Tottenham Hotspur’s bench on Tuesday night, after Son Heung-min was forced to go off before the half-hour mark in his side’s 2-1 win over Marseille.
Son, 30, was on the receiving end of a brutal challenge from Marseille defender Chancel Mbemba. It left the South Korea skipper looking dazed and rubbing the side of his face, perhaps his cheekbone, as he left the field of play.
Eventually, Yves issouma came on to replace him. Mbemba actually opened the scoring for Marseille but Spurs, like they have done of late, came roaring back in the second 45. Clement Lenglet equalised with a neat header.
Then, Hojbjerg drove forward in injury time and pinged a delightful effort off the post and into the net. A gorgeous goal. But he was angry with the Tottenham dugout and Cristian Stellini for not having a replacement ready for Son.
It meant Spurs had to play with 10 men for a short period. It could have easily have cost the North London side. Football London say: “Sanchez raced from the subs bench to give Son some support as he headed down the tunnel.
“Not having a player ready to bring on as Son made way, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg was not impressed at all. He made his feelings clear towards the Tottenham bench. Yves Bissouma was introduced about a minute later.”

Tuesday night almost felt as though the Spurs players took it upon themselves to go and win the match in the second half. They were incredibly passive in the first half. But they looked a new side in the second 45, and got the win.
It is a growing trend now. The same against Newcastle, almost coming back to beat Sporting 2-1, and then actually coming from two goals down to beat Bournemouth on Saturday. Why are Spurs struggling to start games well?
