Newcastle United have been trying to tie up a deal for Crystal Palace’s Andros Townsend all month.
According to a report in the Guardian, Crystal Palace’s Andros Townsend is with the rest of Sam Allardyce’s squad in Bournemouth, ahead of their match at Dean Court this evening.
Newcastle United have been chasing Townsend since the start of the month, but they have struggled to negotiate a deal.
Newcastle want to sign Townsend on loan until the end of the season, with a view to making the transfer permanent in the summer, should they earn promotion to the Premier League.
Palace, on the other hand, appear to not be interested in loaning out Townsend this month.
If the Eagles are to allow the winger to leave before deadline day, a permanent offer will have to be made.
And the fact that Townsend is with the squad in Bournemouth, suggests that any deal to Newcastle is not close to happening.
Townsend has struggled at Palace since moving to Selhurst Park last summer, but he could still have a big impact for Sam Allardyce’s side over the remainder of the season.
Townsend is likely to start on the substitutes’ bench for Palace against Bournemouth this evening.
