According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds United see new signing Raphinha as direct competition for Helder Costa on the right flank.
Leeds completed one more signing on Monday night, as Raphinha completed his move from Rennes following a couple of days of speculation.
Raphinha played his final game for Rennes on Sunday, bagging a goal and an assist in a 2-2 draw against Reims before saying goodbye.
The Brazilian joined Leeds in a deal worth a total of €23million (£21million) according to Ouest-France, marking a major investment for Marcelo Bielsa’s side.
Leeds were clearly in the market for a speedy winger before the deadline, and Raphinha ticks that box with his blistering pace – but which side will he be playing on?
Well, this report claims that Leeds view Raphinha as a rival for Helder Costa on the right flank, seemingly hoping that he can cut in on his left foot and cause havoc.

This means that Leeds still see Jack Harrison as the main left-sided winger, and the deal for Raphinha likely won’t prevent the Whites from targeting Harrison permanently next summer.
This does though raise questions about Ian Carlo Poveda, who predominantly plays as a right-sided winger who cuts inside onto his left foot.
Poveda was excellent as a substitute against Manchester City next weekend, but he may now have to wait for a bigger role with Raphinha on board.
