Several Leeds United fans were concerned when Izzy Brown was not involved for the under-23s on Monday.

According to a report from the Yorkshire Evening Post, Izzy Brown is expected to be involved when Leeds’ under-23 side take on Newcastle on Friday after not being involved on Monday.

With Brown recently making his first appearance for Carlos Corberan’s side following his summer arrival at Elland Road, many fans expected the 21-year-old to be involved in this week’s clash with Sheffield United.

However, there was something of a surprise when the teams were announced. Brown was not only missing from the starting lineup, but also from the entire squad.

And that prompted the supporters to speculate whether he may be in the first-team squad for Tuesday’s game against Reading or, worryingly, may have suffered a setback in his comeback.

But the Yorkshire Evening Post is now reporting that he is expected to feature when the Whites’ youngsters face the Magpies on Friday in the Premier League Cup.

The report would seemingly rule out the chance of a surprise inclusion in the first-team squad when they face the Royals on Tuesday. But it will please the fans that Brown does not appear to have suffered a problem as he continues to try and prove his fitness to Bielsa.

The Chelsea ace could be a real wildcard for the Whites over the coming months. But after such a lengthy period on the sidelines, it makes sense that Leeds appear to be taking a cautious approach with his return.
