Sam Allardyce is reportedly back in talks with Everton, who hope to confirm an appointment by their next Premier League game.

According to a report from the Daily Mirror, Everton majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri is determined to have the club’s new manager confirmed by the time they take on West Ham in the Premier League on Wednesday – but he may have some work to do if he wants Sam Allardyce to be appointed by then.

Everton’s need for a new manager has risen quite dramatically lately, with David Unsworth overseeing just one league victory during his time in caretaker charge and of course, overseeing the 4-1 defeat to Southampton at the weekend that has left them two places and two points above the bottom three in the top flight.

And according to the Mirror, Moshiri, sensing that the club needs a lift, wants the team’s new manager to be confirmed by the time they take to the pitch to face David Moyes’ West Ham later this week.

For that to happen, it appears that the new manager will have to be Allardyce, with the Mirror suggesting that they are back in talks with the former Crystal Palace manager and they are willing to offer him a longer term deal and will pay the Eagles the £2 million compensation required to make a deal happen.

However, it now appears that it may still not be plain sailing with the Mirror adding that Allardyce has told pals that he will need convincing by the club before he takes the job.

But with the terms that seemingly scuppered the last set of talks now improved, it may not be a surprise if the 63-year-old feels that he has heard what he needs to hear when he speaks to Moshiri on Tuesday, and can help the club bring an end to their turbulent search for their next manager.
