According to The Telegraph, Newcastle have big plans for the January transfer window after the £12m signing of Kieran Trippier is sealed.
What’s the story?
Well, the Atlético Madrid right-back is close to becoming Newcastle’s first signing under Eddie Howe, where he’ll earn £130,000-a-week.
After Trippier is announced, The Telegraph believe the Magpies will target five more players this month.
Newcastle are said to be eyeing two new centre-backs, a left-back, a central midfielder and also a centre-forward.
One Newcastle source told The Telegraph that the Magpies are “close on a few things” but clubs are quoting “a lot of money” for their targets.
Nevertheless, the source was confident that “more would follow” after Trippier signs his contract.
Who could Newcastle sign after Kieran Trippier?

Interestingly, Trippier isn’t the only player Newcastle have bid for.
Fabrizio Romano believes the Magpies made a €35m (£29m) offer to Lille for 21-year-old centre-back Sven Botman.
However, the French champions rejected the bid.
Additionally, The Telegraph are claiming that Newcastle want Sevilla centre-back Diego Carlos.

In regards to a centre-forward, the Daily Mail have stated that a move for Zenit St Petersburg striker Sardar Azmoun could happen.
In the left-back department, Everton outcast Lucas Digne is also said to be a target, according to Sky Sports.
Lastly, Howe’s new central midfielder could be Mohamed Elneny, as The Telegraph state that Newcastle have scouted the Arsenal man extensively.
These are some stellar names, and if Newcastle can get five players of this quality to follow Trippier to Tyneside, relegation shouldn’t happen.
