Sunderland are expected to appoint Derek McInnes as their next manager in the near future.

According to a report in the Daily Star, Sunderland chief executive Martin Bain has promised Derek McInnes that he will have a sizeable transfer budget, if he is to move to the Stadium of Light.
Sunderland have made Aberdeen boss McInnes their top target, and are confident of completing a deal in the near future.
Aberdeen and Sunderland initially had difficulties over settling on a compensation package for McInnes, but now seem to have come to an agreement.

The 45-year-old boss’ major concern about moving to Sunderland was not having the funds required to make improvements to his squad.
However, Bain has reportedly promised McInnes that he will have the transfer funds to make renovations.

Sunderland’s impending sale of Jordan Pickford has helped the club’s finances, and the Black Cats are keen to re-invest some of the £30 million which they have made for the young goalkeeper.
McInnes will also treble his wages if he is to accept a deal at Sunderland, as expected.
