According to El Nacional, Jürgen Klopp is ‘already working on’ renovating Liverpool’s squad as he looks to build the next generation.
What’s the story?
Well, Klopp is currently planning to inject fresh blood into Liverpool’s squad, although he may have to do so without Mohamed Salah.
El Nacional believe the 69-cap Egypt international is keen to experience La Liga, having already played in England, Italy and Switzerland.
The 29-year-old’s contract expires on June 30th 2023, so if he is planning to leave, the Reds have a decision to make once the current campaign ends.
El Nacional believe Barcelona are interested, although we’re not sure how that would work given their dire financial situation.
Real Madrid are also keen, although El Nacional state that Los Blancos are mainly focusing on Erling Braut Håland and Kylian Mbappe.
El Nacional add that Klopp has asked Fenway Sports Group to sort out a deal for Salah, as he wants his No.11 around to lead the next generation.
Liverpool must do everything to keep Mohamed Salah
We’re stating the obvious here, but Liverpool must do all they can to keep Salah at Anfield – he’s absolutely priceless.
Even if it means another summer of little investment in order to afford a boost in wages, it must be done – Salah is simply irreplaceable.
The ex-Chelsea forward has already scored eight goals in eight games this season, and is showing no signs of slowing down.
In fact, Salah actually seems to be getting better with age, like a fine wine.
His record for Liverpool is quite something, and deserves rewarding, even if he demands something like £300,000-a-week, for example.
Salah has remarkably scored 133 goals in 211 games for the Reds, while also providing 49 assists – his consistency is unerring.
Whatever Klopp has planned for Liverpool’s next generation, he needs Salah to be the talisman of it.
