Football London report that Tottenham sporting director Fabio Paratici was fuming with the fourth official after full-time on Sunday evening as Spurs suffered defeat to Liverpool – ‘remonstrating’ with him at full-time and in the tunnel.
The Spurs trend of playing poorly in the first half, but much better in the second, continued. After woeful first-half performances against Newcastle, Sporting, Bournemouth and Marseille – Spurs did exactly the same against Liverpool.
They were 2-0 down at the break, jeered off by Spurs fans – something that did not impress Antonio Conte. But in the second 45, they were so much better and Harry Kane got one back. But, they were unlucky, hitting the bar and post.
Rob Guest was in attendance and the much-respected Football London reporter shared what he noticed at full-time. He says Paratici, the man aiming to give Conte the players to take Spurs forward, was fuming with the fourth official.
“The boss wasn’t the only one who was unhappy towards the end of the game as director of football Fabio Paratici could be seen remonstrating with the fourth official at the full-time whistle when he headed down the tunnel.”

What Paratici will have been angry with the officials about is questionable. Ryan Sessegnon was denied a penalty after a push from Trent Alexander-Arnold, which seemed quite blatant having watched replays. Liverpool got away with one.
Then, Spurs fans were fuming that they were only given four minutes to find an equaliser in terms of injury time. That might have angered Paratici, given there are normally five or six minutes awarded to clubs. Frustrating for Tottenham.
Spurs are a lot better than the second-half showing. But they need to be able to turn their second-half performances into 90 minutes. They take on Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup, before playing Leeds ahead of the World Cup.
