Yann M’Vila’s proposed move to Sunderland has fallen through.
According to a report in the Daily Mail, Sunderland boss David Moyes was surprised about the size of the deal that had been offered to Yann M’Vila.
Moyes was appointed to take over at Sunderland last summer, and found out that a deal was already in place to bring M’Vila to the Stadium of Light in January.
The French midfielder had impressed on Wearside last season, and the club were keen to bring him to Wearside on a permanent deal.
Moyes agreed that Sunderland were right to be chasing M’Vila, but he was shocked by the amount they were willing to pay the powerful midfielder in wages.
The Black Cats were prepared to offer M’Vila a bigger contract, as they thought they would be able to get him on a free transfer in January.
However, Sunderland’s failure to complete the transfer last summer has now proven costly.
The Black Cats released a statement yesterday, which confirmed that M’Vila had experienced a change of heart regarded a move to Sunderland, and the deal has now fallen through.
