
Lee Charnley has spoken to Newcastle United players about a return of Premier League football, according to a report.
The Magpies haven’t had a game in any competition since beating Southampton away on March 7.
German football got back underway on Saturday and the Premier League is hoping to greenlight Project Restart – a plan for the 2019-20 campaign to resume.
There are only 92 games left to complete this season and the PL has submitted several proposals, according to The Standard, one of which includes playing the games in neutral venues.
Newcastle loanee Danny Rose hit out at the Premier League’s intention to bring football back in some capacity by the middle of June.
And according to The Chronicle, the Magpies’ managing director Charnley has held a zoom call with the playing staff in the North-East this week to gauge their opinion on the matter.
The report adds that ‘there is hope’ the players will be back in training and ready for a June restart, if it goes ahead.
