According to a report in the Daily Mail, Aston Villa are set to undergo a takeover, although it is unlikely to impact on the futures of Jack Grealish or James Chester.

Tony Xia is believed to be close to selling his majority share in Villa, as he looks to solves the club’s financial problems.

The takeover should help to ease fears over Villa’s future, but it seems that sales are still likely.

The Mail claim that Grealish’s move to Tottenham Hotspur will be unaffected, and they also are set to have to face more offers for Chester.

The good news for Villa is that Steve Bruce will finally be able to make signings, if the takeover goes through.

The claret and blues have had to focus on offloading players this summer, rather than bringing anybody new in.

But if Xia sells up, Villa’s new owners are expected to inject cash into the team, therefore providing Bruce with some funds to spend on improving the quality of his squad.
