Newcastle United have been linked to a lot of players in recent months.

The proposed £300 million takeover by Saudi investors has seen quite a few big-name stars find themselves linked with moves to St James’s Park.

The likes of Philippe Coutinho and Edinson Cavani are among those reportedly on Newcastle’s radar for when the new era begins, while Mauricio Pochettino is a number one target to replace manager Steve Bruce, according to a report from Sky Sports.

Malang Sarr is one of the lesser-known names reportedly on the Magpies’ shopping list, but the North-East club should probably brace themselves for bad news in that respect.

That’s because according to RMC Sport, he might be bound for Germany.

The Nice defender, who’s available on a free transfer, is being tracked by Schalke, Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Monchengladbach, but Eintracht Frankfurt have ‘positioned themselves concretely’ in recent days.

The report adds that Sarr’s people are in constant contact with all four Bundesliga clubs.

It makes for ominous reading for Newcastle who, according to Le 10 Sport, are behind Schalke in the pecking order of clubs Sarr could go to.

The 21-year-old is a very exciting young player, one who’s been linked to Arsenal in the past, and although the Magpies have nothing to lose if they miss out, it still might hurt if he goes on to develop into a truly world-class defender.
