It looks like Tanguy Ndombele won’t be leaving Tottenham Hotspur anytime soon, amid speculation about a move to Liverpool.
There is a lot of conflicting information about the Spurs midfielder.
Ndombele, who joined Tottenham last summer, dropped a cryptic hint on Instagram that suggested he was staying in North London following rumours of a switch to Barcelona, but now Liverpool are reportedly also interested in bringing him to Anfield.
But according to The Independent, the Lilywhites have ‘no intention’ of selling the 23-year-old star, who has struggled during his first season in England following a club-record £63 million switch from Lyon [Sky Sports].
The report adds that Tottenham won’t be letting their big-money signing leave on a permanent or a loan basis, which clashes with a claim by Bleacher Report last week that they would look to offload him due to concerns over his attitude.
Do Liverpool even need him?
Not really.
Jurgen Klopp has Fabinho, Gini Wijnaldum and Jordan Henderson and whatever midfield role it is, Ndombele isn’t playing ahead of either of them, even if the Brazilian had struggled during the second half of this season.
The Reds’ interest is dubious, but Barca are widely known to be in the market for an Ivan Rakitic replacement and a move to Camp Nou is a lot more credible.
