According to The Telegraph, Eddie Howe left Newcastle seriously impressed after he was interviewed for the managerial vacancy at St James’ Park.

What’s the story?

Well, The Telegraph outline three things in particular which pleased Amanda Staveley and the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia.

Firstly, Howe outlined his plans for recruitment on Tyneside if he was chosen to replace Steve Bruce.

Secondly, The Telegraph believe the 43-year-old explained his tactical approach to the new owners, before going into detail about his coaching methods.

The interview was said to be extremely encouraging for the Magpies, as it fitted in with the ideas of the new owners.

At last, we may have some movement as Newcastle look to move on from Mike Ashley and Bruce.

The Telegraph add that Howe has been informed about how impressive his interview was, as he awaits an outcome.

Would Eddie Howe be good for Newcastle?

In our view, the former Bournemouth manager doesn’t get enough credit for what he’s done in the world of football management.

Currently, Howe is strangely being spoken about as the man who relegated Bournemouth, instead of the man who took the Cherries from League Two into the Premier League.

Of course, the Englishman has never worked at a club in Newcastle’s current situation, where he will have what is effectively a bottomless pit of money to spend on players.

Howe has also never been hired to be a firefighter like Sam Allardyce and Tony Pulis, so it is also a risk to entrust him with the task of keeping Newcastle in the Premier League this season.

Nevertheless, there’s a reason Liverpool had him on their shortlist alongside Jürgen Klopp and Carlo Ancelotti to replace Brendan Rodgers, and that’s because he’s a good manager (The Athletic).

Keep an eye on this situation, as it looks very likely that Howe will be the man for Newcastle.
