David Moyes resigned as Sunderland manager yesterday.
According to a report in the Telegraph, David Moyes began to lose the Sunderland dressing room after his decision to cancel their Christmas party.
Sunderland’s team had organised a get together over the festive season, but Moyes aborted their plan – after the Black Cats’ poor start to the season.
Moyes also stated that he wanted to replace many members of his Sunderland squad in January, which did him no favours with the players.
And, according to the Telegraph, Moyes’ relationship with his squad continued to deteriorate after that.
The Scottish boss ultimately stepped down from his position as Sunderland boss yesterday.
Moyes rapidly lost support from players and supporters at Sunderland, and he decided that it was best to walk away from his post at the North East club.
The Black Cats are now on the hunt for a new manager, as they plan to make it back into the Premier League.
Nigel Pearson is the early front runner to be appointed as Sunderland’s next boss.
