A claim has emerged that Manuel Ugarte could now reject Tottenham Hotspur in favour of a transfer to PSG next season.

Thursday has not been the best day for Spurs fans, as Arne Slot confirmed that he intends to extend his contract at Feyenoord.

While a transfer involving Manuel Ugarte to Tottenham Hotspur has been touted for a number of weeks, it seems like PSG are in his destiny, according to a report by Correio de Manha.

Manuel Ugarte set to snub Tottenham for PSG transfer

The Sporting CP defensive midfielder, who has a £52 million release clause in his contract was linked to Spurs as recently as at the end of March.

Branded as ‘tireless’ by Fabrizio Romano, the 22-year-old is rated as one of Europe’s most promising up-and-coming No.6’s.

However, it has been reported that now, Manuel Ugarte intends to give a thumbs up to a transfer to PSG instead of Tottenham in the summer.

Furthermore, it is mentioned that the move is ‘closed’, as he is set to play alongside Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, Neymar and their illustrious teammates in the French capital next season.

Tottenham must sort out their managerial situation before assessing targets

As devastating as it must for Tottenham to discover that Manuel Ugarte fancies a transfer to PSG, they have bigger priorities to address.

One of them includes bringing in a manager to replace Antonio Conte.

To conduct transfer business without any input from the man who will be handed the responsibility to manage them is risky business.

As was in Djed Spence and Antonio Conte’s case, it only makes matters worse for all parties involved if the manager has little to no faith in the summer incoming.

Keeping that in mind, Tottenham should move on from the blow handed to them by Arne Slot and sort out their managerial situation before focusing on other problem areas at the club.
