According to The Athletic, Leicester City defender Vontae Daley-Campbell decided to leave Arsenal because they showed ‘lethargy’ in their attempts to keep him.
Daley-Campbell, 19, came up through the ranks with Arsenal, but never made his first-team debut for the club despite showing potential.
In 2019, Daley-Campbell chose to leave Arsenal in search of opportunities elsewhere, joining Premier League rivals Leicester City on a free transfer.
The right back has plenty of competition ahead of him now, given that Ricardo Pereira, Timothy Castagne and the now-injured James Justin all capable of playing at right back.
Daley-Campbell did though make his first-team debut for Leicester in midweek, playing the full 90 minutes of the 1-0 FA Cup win over Brighton and Hove Albion.
He will now be hoping for more first-team opportunities moving forward, and will be looking to prove Arsenal wrong for letting him leave.
It’s suggested that Arsenal didn’t seem to want to keep him, so Daley-Campbell took it upon himself to leave, picking Leicester despite other offers from the Premier League, Championship, League One and Bundesliga.
Arsenal have been made to pay for letting the likes of Serge Gnabry, Donyell Malen, Ismael Bennacer and Yunus Musah leave in recent times, and Daley-Campbell will be desperate to join that list.
