According to ABC in Spain, Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho promised a leg of jamon iberico to Sergio Reguilon if he stifled Riyad Mahrez.

Spurs beat Manchester City 2-0 on Saturday afternoon, as Son Heung-min and Giovani Lo Celso found the net to earn a superb three points.

On Tuesday morning, Tottenham boss Mourinho took to Instagram to show a photo of himself giving left back Reguilon an entire leg of top-shelf jamon iberico.

Many were perplexed; Mourinho suggested that ‘a promise is a promise’, and kept his promise to the defender even if it cost him a staggering £500.

So what exactly did Mourinho promise Reguilon? Well, ABC claim it was related to his performance against Mahrez on Saturday.

Mourinho allegedly promised ‘the best ham on the market’ to Reguilon if he managed to stifle City winger Mahrez, and the Algerian failed to complete any of his four dribbles against Reguilon.

That’s exactly what Mourinho wanted, and he lived up to his end of the bargain even if it cost him a pretty penny.

This not only goes to show how good Reguilon is – and how much he loves jamon iberico – but also a great side to Mourinho, who is going to great lengths to please his palyers.
