Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez has still not signed a new contract at St. James’ Park.

Newcastle have been trying to tie down Benitez to a new contract, with his current deal set to expire at the end of the month.
The Spanish boss has held meetings with both Ashley and Lee Charnley in recent times, and they have offered him the chance to spend this summer.
Newcastle are prepared to give Benitez £60 million to spend on players, plus whatever he raises from sales.
The problem is that Ashley and Charnley are refusing to give Benitez much more freedom, which has left Benitez considering his future.

Whether he will sign a new contract remains to be seen, but it would be a major blow to Newcastle if he didn’t.
The Magpies are highly unlikely to bring in a higher profile or more talented boss than Benitez if he did leave.
If Benitez was given considerable funds to spend it could also be an exciting prospect for Newcastle, as he has made them very competitive in recent seasons, despite having a limited budget.
