Newcastle United winger Allan Saint-Maximin is now preparing to stay at St James’ Park amid links with Tottenham Hotspur.

Allan Saint-Maximin isn’t giving up on Newcastle United and still wants to stay with the Magpies this summer.

That is according to the Daily Mail, who claim that Saint-Maximin wants to fight for his place at Newcastle.

It’s stated that Saint-Maximin had been lined up an asset Newcastle could sell this summer to bolster their transfer budget.

However, Saint-Maximin wants to play for Newcastle in the Champions League and is now ready to stay put.

The report adds that Saint-Maximin actually wants a new deal to bring his wages in line with the club’s new signings.

Newcastle don’t seem willing to do that right now though but Saint-Maximin thinks he can convince the Magpies by playing next season.

Saint-Maximin even believes that playing in the Champions League can help him break into the France squad.

To put it simply, Saint-Maximin seemingly thinks that staying with Newcastle can really help him in the coming year.

Allan Saint-Maximin to Tottenham rumours can end

Speculation in recent months have heavily linked Saint-Maximin with a move away from Newcastle.

The 26-year-old only started 12 Premier League games this season and Eddie Howe didn’t seem entirely convinced by him.

Saint-Maximin did manage five assists but his future seemed unclear amid links to Tottenham Hotspur.

The Sunday Mirror (30/04; page 76) reported that Tottenham were leading the race to sign Saint-Maximin.

That report claimed that Newcastle were seeking around £50million for Saint-Maximin – a fee we couldn’t really see Tottenham paying.

Spurs may well want another winger this summer.

Arnaut Danjuma’s loan spell is over and Lucas Moura has gone, whilst few would be surprised if Bryan Gil was sold.

Saint-Maximin has the kind of flair that Ange Postecoglou may like, especially having seen Jota dazzle for Celtic.

A deal seemed unlikely and is now even less likely with Saint-Maximin seemingly wanting to stay put at St James’ Park this summer.
