Nottingham Forest want to sign a goalkeeper in the summer transfer window following another Brice Samba mistake in Saturday’s draw with Reading, as reported by The Sun (14 March, page 59).
The Congo-born shot-stopper was one of the Championship’s most eye-catching goalkeepers in 2019/20 so perhaps it was inevitable a drop-off would occur at some point.
However, while the odd mistake is forgivable, a series of costly blunders isn’t.
Samba’s latest howler, as a Yakou Meite shot flew through him and into the Forest net on Saturday, may not be the straw that broke the camel’s back but the poor dromedary is suffering a nasty case of lumbago.
The former Caen keeper was also blamed for Ismaila Sarr’s winner in the 1-0 defeat at Watford a few weeks ago.
And, according to The Sun, Nottingham Forest are set to make a new glovesman top priority in the summer transfer window.

That doesn’t mean Samba will be sold, of course.
Forest boss Chris Hughton merely wants a more experienced, reliable option between the sticks, a man capable of focusing Samba’s mind while providing some much-needed competition for the number one jersey.
Who that mystery goalkeeper will be remains to be seen.
Former Aston Villa man Orjan Nyland is one option on a free transfer, while the likes of Asmir Begovic, Rob Elliott and Michael McGovern will be available in the summer.
