John Terry and Dean Smith have taken over at Aston Villa, after being announced last night.

According to a report in the Telegraph, John Terry has been handed a contract worth £1m million a year at Aston Villa.

Terry was announced as Villa’s new assistant manager last night, after Dean Smith’s move from Brentford.

The veteran centre-back is taking his first steps into management, and he has been given a six-figure contract.

Terry was picked by Villa’s board as their new number two, as he impressed with his professionalism last term.

Terry was one of Villa’s star players in the previous season, and when he announced his retirement, it seemed likely that he would step into the claret and blues’ coaching set-up.

Villa are currently on a poor run of form, so Smith and Terry have a challenge ahead of them to turn things around.

The duo will first be in the dugout for their new side in two weekends’ time, when they take on Swansea City.
