Never before has John Henry been quite this unpopular among Liverpool fans.

Even after Liverpool pulled out of the European Super League last night, quite a lot of Reds supporters still want blood following a farcical last 72 hours.

The reigning Premier League champions announced on Sunday night, along with five other Premier League clubs, that they would be leaving UEFA to compete in a Florentino Perez-led project alongside some of Europe’s biggest names, like Real Madrid and Barcelona.

But the venture was met with fierce opposition from not only the football world, but Boris Johnson and Prince William revealed their disdain for the idea.

Liverpool released a brief statement on Tuesday night confirming their u-turn and it did nothing to heal relations betweens the fans and the club’s board, nor did Henry’s message to the supporters this morning.

According to The Independent, Henry’s Fenway Sports Group would be ‘glad’ to sell the Anfield club, which they acquired for £300 million in 2010.

The report adds that Henry would look for a minimum of £2 billion for the sale of Liverpool but that the figure is too high to realistically attract any buyers.

Jamie Carragher claimed on Sky Sports last night that he cannot possibly see how Henry and chairman Tom Werner can return to Anfield, noting that the club’s decision to break free from UEFA will ‘never be forgotten’ among fans.

According to Forbes, Henry has a net worth of £2.8 billion.
