Derby County have confirmed via their official website the signing of Frank Lampard’s former Chelsea and England teammate Ashley Cole on a contract until the end of the season.

Cole’s move follows his departure from Los Angeles Galaxy at the end of last year, and strengthens the Rams’ left-back options after Max Lowe returned to Aberdeen on loan.

But how much will the 38-year-old’s Derby stint cost the Championship club?

According to the Sun, he’ll receive £15,000-a-week at Pride Park, which works out just shy of £350,000 altogether – assuming his deal runs, like most others, until the end of June.

That represents an increase of around £4,000-a-week on his previous Galaxy contract (also the Sun), although it will take the best part of two months for him to earn the £120,000-a week he was once paid at Chelsea (Telegraph).

As well as Lampard and Jody Morris, the Derby assistant manager, Cole joins his former Chelsea colleagues, Mason Mount and Fikayo Tomori, at Pride Park.

Will Cole prove a good addition for Derby County?
