Mauricio Pochettino would still view taking the Arsenal job as a betrayal to his former club Tottenham Hotspur.

That’s according to the Daily Mail, who note that Arsenal showed an interest in Pochettino back in 2019.

Pochettino had been sacked by Tottenham on November 19th after a difficult start to the season.

Arsenal then decided to sack Unai Emery just 10 days later.

Arsenal allegedly asked the question, making contact to try and bring Pochettino to the red side of North London.

Pochettino made it abundantly clear; he wasn’t interested in Arsenal at all.

The Argentinian had such a strong bond with Tottenham that taking charge of their bitter rivals – even after being sacked – would have been too much.

The report even claims that Pochettino still feels the same way now and would seemingly be reluctant to ever become Arsenal boss.

The Gunners won’t be devastated by that news right now given the success of Mikel Arteta this season.

Pochettino is though on the verge of becoming Chelsea boss, seemingly believing that Tottenham’s rivalry with the Blues isn’t quite on the same level as the one with Arsenal.

Tottenham only have themselves to blame as Mauricio Pochettino heads to Chelsea

Pochettino is on the verge of a Premier League return as he will soon be appointed as the new Chelsea boss.

Todd Boehly and co have accelerated a move for Pochettino and he is seemingly the replacement for Graham Potter.

That means a return to London for Pochettino, but it also means a few broken hearts.

Tottenham fans have been chanting for Pochettino of late, desperate to see him return as Spurs boss.

Daniel Levy and co don’t share that view though and haven’t made any kind of push to appoint Pochettino.

Just how Spurs haven’t even made contact with Pochettino is unbelievable, and they must now live with that decision as he prepares to take over at Chelsea.

Still, at least isn’t Arsenal.
