West Ham United boss Manuel Pellegrini has reportedly decided how many new players he wants.
According to a report from The Sun on Sunday (24/3; page 59), Manuel Pellegrini is hoping to make three additions to his West Ham squad over the summer, with a striker seemingly one of those on his wishlist.
The Hammers have enjoyed a promising first season under the former Manchester City boss. With seven games to go, they already have 42 points on the board and have a real chance of finishing seventh in the Premier League.
Nevertheless, the warning signs have been there at times throughout the campaign, including in their most recent fixture. The Irons needed a stunning comeback to avoid a disappointing home defeat to Huddersfield Town before the international break.
And it appears that Pellegrini is not planning to stick with what he has. The Sun on Sunday (24/3; page 59) reports that the West Ham boss wants three signings in the upcoming window.
And while the report does not make it explicitly clear what kind of players Pellegrini is after, the interest is described as ‘bad news’ for Andy Carroll, Arthur Masuaku and Adrian, seemingly hinting that a striker, left-back and goalkeeper are on his shopping list.
Some West Ham fans may argue that they want to see more business done. But Pellegrini may feel that his squad is now strong enough that the Hammers hierarchy should be focusing on a smaller number of marquee additions rather than plotting a significant overhaul.
