Tottenham Hotspur fans could be forgiven for thinking that the imminent arrival of centre-back at Swansea City would be good news for their own pursuit of a new central defender.

Tottenham have been strongly linked with a move for Swansea’s Joe Rodon.

And, according to Wales Online, the Swans are set to complete the free transfer signing of another player in Rodon’s position.

The website claims that a deal for the Manchester City youngster, Joel Latibeaudiere, is almost done.

But it adds that Latibeaudiere’s switch has little bearing on Rodon’s future, with the Swansea manager Steve Cooper keen on strengthening his options regardless of where the reported Tottenham target is plying his trade come 5:01pm on Friday.

Of course, that is what you would expect a club in Swansea’s position to say as they hold out for the best possible arrangement for them.

And Tottenham, certainly, will feel more confident of striking an agreement if Latibeaudiere does indeed arrive at the Liberty Stadium.

Swansea are, according to BBC Sport, looking for around £18 million for Rodon.
