West Ham United have suffered a major injury blow with the news that Javier Hernandez will be missing for the next couple of weeks.

The Mirror reports that Hernandez sustained a hamstring problem during Mexico’s draw with Belgium on Friday, and will not be ready for the return of the Premier League this weekend.

It will be a major blow for Moyes as he prepares to take charge of the Hammers for the first time on Saturday, looking to lead the side out of the relegation zone in the top flight.

Though the 29-year-old’s form has not always been the most convincing since his £17 million summer move, he would have surely been a player that Moyes would have wanted to rely on during the early stages of his tenure.
Hernandez has scored four goals in 11 top flight appearances for the Irons, while their next highest goalscorer has just two strikes to their name so far, so Moyes will undoubtedly need someone to step up for the next three games to ensure that the side’s situation is not even bleaker by the time Hernandez returns.
