According to The Mirror, Rangers boss Steven Gerrard is being strongly pursued by Liverpool amid fears over Jurgen Klopp’s future.
It’s claimed that Liverpool sources are worried that Klopp will end up leaving Anfield in order to become the next Germany manager.
Joachim Low is expected to leave this post as Germany boss in the near future, either after the European Championships this summer or the World Cup next year.
There is a belief at Anfield that Klopp would find it difficult to turn down the Germany job even if he is happy with Liverpool.
Klopp has endured a difficult season, not only in terms of Liverpool’s poor form, but also in his personal life – and few would begrudge him something of a break from club football.
Moving into international management may ease the workload on Klopp, though whether he would have the time with his players to implement his style remains to be seen.

If Klopp does go, it’s suggested that Rangers boss Gerrard is the rather unsurprising target to replace him, given that he is an Anfield legend.
Liverpool’s officials allegedly believe that Gerrard and assistant Gary McAllister – a former Liverpool man himself – are the ideal pair to come in and succeed Klopp eventually.
Gerrard is on the verge of winning the Scottish Premiership title, and that has seemingly helped convince Liverpool that it’s the right move to make.
