Kyle Lafferty has reportedly been told that he can leave Steven Gerrard’s Scottish Premiership giants Rangers.
A move abroad appeals to well-travelled Rangers striker Kyle Lafferty, according to Press Association Sport, via Scotsman, as he continues to be linked with Cypriot side Apollon Limassol.
Lafferty made a dream return to Ibrox less than 12 months ago when Rangers signed their former youngster from Scottish Premiership rivals Hearts for £500,000.
But the Northern Irishman struggled to live up to expectations and notched just seven goals in all competitions.
And the report claims that Lafferty has been told that he is free to leave Rangers for the second time this summer, having fallen behind January addition Jermain Defoe in Steven Gerrard’s pecking order.
The Scotsman reported on Wednesday that Apollon Limassol are keen to lure Lafferty to the Mediterranean. They, like Rangers, will be playing European football next season after finishing third in Cyprus’s first division.
And PA Sport, via the Scotsman, reports that Lafferty is keen to try his hand on the continent again in the autumn years of his career.
The 31-year-old has enjoyed previous spells in Italy, Switzerland and Turkey before returning to British shores with Norwich City.
