Jack Colback has been left out of Newcastle United’s Premier League squad with Steve Bruce decided to omit him until January.

Jack Colback has been left stunned by Steve Bruce’s decision to omit him from Newcastle United’s 25-man Premier League squad, according to The Chronicle.
Bruce was put in a rather uncomfortable decision when replacing Rafa Benitez at St James’ Park – and not just because the majority of Magpies fans would rather the Spaniard had stayed at the helm instead.
Newcastle’s failure to find buyers for the likes of Rolando Aarons, Henri Saivet and, yes Colback himself, meant the former Sunderland boss had little choice but to omit them from his official 25-man Premier League squad.
And considering that Colback featured regularly in pre-season, and played under Bruce during his formative years at Sunderland, the 29-year-old seemingly expected that he’d be given a fresh start after being frozen out by Benitez.
Not so.

With Isaac Hayden, Jonjo Shelvey, Ki Sung-Yeung and Sean Longstaff all ahead of him in the pecking order, Colback’s hopes of playing top flight football between now and January are over.
The Newcastle-born enforcer has apparently been left ‘shocked’ by Bruce’s decision as he enters the final year of his contract.
If only Nottingham Forest had taken up their chance to sign Colback on a permanent basis after an impressive loan spell at the City Ground last season.
