Glasgow Rangers will have to see off Premier League competition if they hope to bring Dominic Solanke to Ibrox.

According to a report from the London Evening Standard, Crystal Palace are hoping that Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s loan spell last season will convince Dominic Solanke to snub Rangers and join them on loan in January.

The Gers are reportedly hoping that they will be able to use Steven Gerrard’s connections to bring Solanke to Ibrox on loan next month. Gerrard has already brought Ryan Kent and Ovie Ejaria in from Liverpool – though, the latter has already returned to his parent club.

But Rangers will have to see off Premier League competition if they want to get the striker in when the window opens.

The London Evening Standard reports that the goal-shy Eagles are eyeing a deal for the 21-year-old, and hope that Loftus-Cheek’s loan at Selhurst Park will tempt Solanke to make the same switch in January.

Loftus-Cheek was a superb signing for Roy Hodgson’s men. His form surely pushed him up the Chelsea pecking order ahead of this season and saw him earn a first England call-up before going on to bag a place in Gareth Southgate’s World Cup squad.

And with Palace struggling for goals from strikers, they arguably have a fantastic chance of convincing Solanke to ignore Rangers’ interest and return to London.

Rangers do lack attacking options, but Alfredo Morelos is enjoying a brilliant campaign in front of goal so there is no guarantee that he will be first-choice if he heads to Ibrox.

And with no European football left this season for the Gers, Gerrard may need to provide plenty of assurances to win the race against Palace.
