Brendan Rodgers reportedly told some of his Celtic players on Monday that he was leaving.

Some of the Celtic players and staff initially believed that Brendan Rodgers was joking when he told them on Monday that he was planning to leave the Hoops to take the Leicester City job, according to a report from the Evening Times.
It has been a remarkable 24 hours for the Scottish Premiership champions. While many Celtic fans would have expected that Rodgers would one day depart for another go at the Premier League, there may not have been so many who saw his departure to Leicester happening this week.
And it appears that the supporters would not have been alone in thinking that any speculation linking with him with the Foxes would probably lead to nothing.
The Evening Times reports that Rodgers told some of the staff and key players that he was leaving on Monday after Celtic’s training session, and some of those in attendance thought that he was joking when he first told them his plans.

It is a big surprise that Rodgers is going now. Celtic are just a few months and two trophies away from an incredible third domestic treble under the Northern Irishman.
He may not have wanted to miss out on the Leicester job, but there are arguably better times to leave the club. Some may argue that Rodgers has earned the right to leave on his own terms given what he has done at Parkhead, but he will surely damage his relationship with the large majority of the Celtic fans with his departure.
