According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal are hoping to strengthen four areas of their team if Mikel Arteta achieves qualification for the Champions League.

What’s the story?

Well, the Gunners believe four areas of their squad need bolstering this summer.

The Daily Mail state that Arsenal’s priority is to sign two new strikers, with Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah both set to leave as free agents in June.

It is also said that the north Londoners are eyeing reinforcements in the attacking midfield department, and also at centre-back.

As things stand, Arteta is set to be without a striker for the start of the 2022/23 campaign, with no plans currently in place to extend Lacazette or Nketiah’s contracts.

Their departures will, however, free up a big chunk of the wage bill for new signings.

Lacazette currently earns £182,063-a-week, whereas Nketiah makes £45,000-a-week.

Arsenal need more transfers

If Arsenal do manage to qualify for the Champions League, we feel they need to strengthen one more area.

The centre-midfield department is very, very thin, and instead of signing another attacking midfielder, we feel Arteta needs a central midfielder more.

Arsenal currently have Granit Xhaka, Mohamed Elneny, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Thomas Partey in that area, with Martin Ødegaard operating a bit further forward.

An outstanding midfielder to compliment Partey would take Arsenal up a gear, so we feel that a new face in that area should definitely be targeted.
