Sunderland are understood to be closing in on appointing Aberdeen’s Derek McInnes.
According to a report in the Shields Gazette, Derek McInnes has privately expressed concerns about the transfer budget he could be given at Sunderland.
The Black Cats’ failure to guarantee David Moyes that he would be able to invest heavily this summer was one of the reasons why the Scot resigned.
And it is believed that McInnes also has worries that he won’t be given enough spending power.
Sunderland need to cut costs, following their relegation from the Premier League last season.
And there is a feeling that the Black Cats could be shopping on the cheap this summer.
McInnes is said to be concerned that he won’t be given enough money to improve Sunderland’s squad sufficiently.
However, the Aberdeen manager is still said to be edging closer to making a move to Wearside.
McInnes has emerged as Sunderland’s top target, and talks with him are understood to have largely gone positively so far.
